Escalator Step Chain Use Instructions

Types of Escalator Step Chain Damage and Replacement Conditions

Damage to the chain is more common in the case of chain elongation due to wear between the chain plate and the pin, as well as the rupture of the roller, tire peeling or cracking failure and so on.

1. Chain elongation

Usually, the gap between two rungs is used as the basis for judging the replacement of rung chain. If the gap between two rungs reaches 6mm, the step chain needs to be replaced.

2. Roller failure

For roller built-in step chain, if only individual roller in the step chain fails such as rupture, tire peeling or cracking, and the chain elongation is still within the permissible range, it is only necessary to replace individual rollers. However, if more rollers in a chain fail, it is necessary to replace the chain with a new one.

For external roller step chain, the rollers can be easily replaced in case of failure such as rupture, tire peeling or cracking, etc., and only when the chain elongation exceeds the permissible range is it necessary to replace the chain with a new one.
